Privacy Policy

ZA Summit (“the Platform”) is owned and operated by Luqantu Group (Pty) Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”), a company registered in South Africa. We are committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it.

ZA Summit is a public directory. Information you include in your listing is visible to all users of the Platform — including businesses searching for suppliers. You control what appears in your listing. We do not share your private account information with third parties for commercial purposes.

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Name, email address, and contact details when you register or join the waitlist
  • Business name, category, location, and description when you create a listing
  • Identity documents and company registration documents submitted for verification purposes
  • Payment information processed via PayFast (we do not store card details)
  • Any content you submit including photos, portfolio items, and listing descriptions

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • IP address and browser type when you visit the Platform
  • Pages visited, time spent on the Platform, and referring URLs
  • Device information including operating system and screen size
  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 7)

2.3 Information From Third Parties

  • Email engagement data from Mailchimp (opens, clicks) for subscribers to our mailing list
  • Payment confirmation data from PayFast

4. Sharing Your Information

We do not share your private account information for commercial purposes. However, please be aware of the following:

  • Your public listing: Information you add to your ZA Summit listing (name, business name, category, location, contact details, photos, portfolio) is publicly visible to all users of the Platform — including businesses and corporates searching for suppliers, freelancers, and verified professionals. By creating a listing, you consent to this information being publicly accessible. You control what you include in your listing at all times.
  • Supplier discovery reports: ZA Summit may compile curated lists of publicly listed, verified members for corporate clients seeking B-BBEE compliant suppliers. These reports contain only information already publicly visible on your listing. No private account data is included.
  • Service providers: Mailchimp (email marketing), PayFast (payment processing), Domains.co.za (hosting). These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and may not use it for their own purposes.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to a valid legal request.
  • Business transfer: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of Luqantu Group (Pty) Ltd, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before this occurs.

5. Your Rights Under POPIA

As a data subject under POPIA, you have the following rights:

  • Right to access: You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Right to correction: You may request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Right to deletion: You may request that we delete your personal information, subject to our legal obligations.
  • Right to object: You may object to the processing of your personal information for direct marketing purposes at any time.
  • Right to withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time.

6. Data Retention

  • Active account data is retained for as long as your account remains active.
  • If you close your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or tax purposes.
  • Verification documents are retained for 12 months after verification and then securely deleted.
  • Payment records are retained for 5 years in accordance with South African tax law.

7. Cookies

ZA Summit uses cookies to improve your experience on the Platform. Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use:

  • Essential cookies: Required for the Platform to function. Cannot be disabled.
  • Analytics cookies: Help us understand how visitors use the Platform (e.g. Google Analytics). You may opt out via your browser settings.
  • Marketing cookies: Used to track email engagement via Mailchimp. You may unsubscribe from our mailing list at any time.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of the Platform.

8. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, loss, or destruction. These include:

  • SSL encryption on all pages (HTTPS)
  • Secure hosting on Domains.co.za LiteSpeed servers
  • Payment processing via PayFast — we never store card details
  • Access controls limiting who within Luqantu Group can access personal data

9. Third-Party Links

The Platform may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites and encourage you to read their privacy policies before providing any personal information.

10. Children

ZA Summit is not directed at children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us immediately.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Where changes are material, we will notify you by email. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update.

12. Complaints

If you believe we have not handled your personal information in accordance with POPIA, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa:
